I have this issue and have been messing with it all day I have tried your fix, but my node type is still unknown. Most useful thank you. Thank you! Thank you!!!!!!! You have saved my sanity!!!! I am having the same issue however my node type is already Hybrid.
I get an error saying the network name cannot be found. I have read hundreds of article with people having the same issue with multiple resolutions and none seem to work. Each one of my stores communicate with each other internally through a local router. Any help is appreciated. Angelo I have been having this issue for years now on one system that I have even reloaded and changed the NIC on.
Easiest solution have found to fix it is a windows system restore back to when it was working. Thank you all for the responses. As it turned out I was focusing my efforts into the Win 7 terminal when in fact I had to make the change on the XP Main terminal in our store. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I have already looked at that reg value - it's set to 1.
If I change it to 8, the next time the lease is renewed it goes back to 1. The only way I've found to make it stick at 8 is to change client to use static IP settings and change this reg value to 8.
I did see mention of another reg value named just NodeType in same location , which supposedly takes precedence over DhcpNodeType. Again, ensure Install behavior is set to System. For the detection method we will follow the same logic as the reboot protocol script but this time the File or folder to check for is called CheckHybridJoin. Choose the Install Reboot Protocol app created earlier and click Select. Ensure that Automatically install is set to Yes.
We want to ensure that we add an Assignment to this app. I have targeted my dynamic group for hybrid joined devices which is just the group I am using to target my hybrid join Autopilot deployment profile. Click through the wizard to completion. Finally, we want to make sure that all the scripts have processed as the device is provisioned, so we can add it into our list of apps to ….
Choose the Toast Notification app. You do not need to select the Install Reboot Protocol app, this will automatically deploy as a dependency. When the device is provisioned, the magic will happen. When the User Device Registration event ID kicks in, the user will be notified all is good to go. In the next part of the blog post, I will show how you can add in some AppLocker file hash exemptions, if you want to use the Toast Notification script and you are using AppLocker and therefore your PowerShell is running in constrained language mode.

I see that you want to know how to change the node type of a Windows 7 computer from peer-to-peer to hybrid. Let us work together to resolve this issue. However, we need more information on this issue. Please answer these questions. Where did you see that the node was set to peer-to-peer connection? How is the computer connected to the network? Does the computer have any firewall? Does the router have any firewall? What is the node type in the router settings page? Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue?
Please get back to us with the answers as they are important for us to resolve this issue.
