Microsoft lync desktop recording


















With Lync Recording Player, you can access the audio, video, instant messaging IM conversations, application sharing, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, whiteboard, and polling portions of the Microsoft Lync recording just as they were experienced during the Microsoft Lync meeting or conversation. You can also hide any of these features so that you can focus on other parts of the Lync recording. With indexing, you can listen to a particular speaker or view specific content, and you can also access a list of attendees and download attachments.

Start Lync Recording Player. Use the playback controls. In the Lync main window, click Tools , and then click Recording Manager. Note: If the Tools option is not visible, click the arrow next to the Options button , and then click the Show Menu Bar. In Lync Recording Manager, click a recording, and then click Play. Lync Recording Player opens. While playing a recording, use the following controls to control the playback or access various parts of the recording:. To show or hide the list of original meeting participants and attachments that were made available during the meeting, click the Information and Attachments button.

If an attachment is listed, you can browse to the file location by clicking Browse. To navigate to a particular piece of shared content or a particular speaker, click the Content Sharing and People Speaking button to show or hide the index pane. Under Index by Content Sharing , expand the type of content you want to view for example, Whiteboard , Desktop , or Poll by clicking the arrow to the left of it. The time indicators to the right of each content type show when during the meeting the content was displayed.

Stop a recording and save it. Play a recording. Create a version of a recording that you can share with others. During a Lync conversation or meeting but before you start recording, you can select the type of content that you want to include in the recording.

You can set these options while the Lync conversation or meeting is in progress by opening Recording Options in a meeting or Conversation window. Any changes you make apply to the current conversation or meeting. For subsequent conversations or meetings, these options revert to their default settings. Note: If you plan to share a Windows Media version of the recording, be aware that if certain content in the original Lync session was very large in size for example, a large whiteboard, a long IM session, or dual monitor sharing , the content may be less readable in the finished video.

Additionally, any ink messages in the IM portion of the recording are usually truncated because of limited width in the finished video.

In a meeting or Conversation window, in the menu bar, click Settings. In the Lync — Recording Options dialog box, select the check boxes next to the types of content you want to include in the current Lync recording.

If a content type is not available, your organization may not allow recording of that content. Note that you cannot record a conversation with someone who is using a regular telephone. Click the More options button, and then click Start Recording. In the menu bar, click Actions , and then click Start Recording.

While the recording is in progress, you can use the controls at the bottom of the window to pause, resume, or stop recording. While a recording is in progress, the message You are recording , Others are recording , or You and others are recording appears at the bottom of the meeting or Conversation window. If others are recording, you can point to the message to see who initiated the recording. When you stop recording, Lync automatically saves the recording.

Lync also gives you the option of creating a Windows Media version of the recording that you can publish to others by saving it in a network location. If you have SharePoint Server and the appropriate rights, you can save the recording to a Microsoft SharePoint asset library.

Note: If you plan to share a Windows Media version of the recording, be aware that if certain content in the original Lync session is very large in size for example, a large whiteboard, a long IM session, or dual monitor sharing , the content may be less readable in the finished video.

Additionally, any ink messages in the instant messaging portion of the recording are usually truncated because of limited width in the finished video. Click the More options button, and then click Stop Recording. When your recording has been processed, you can access it to play or send to others.

Lync displays a message when the recording is ready. You can click the alert to open Recording Manager , or if you miss that, click Tools on the Lync main window, then Recording Manager.

Click your recording to highlight it, then click Play on the right side of the window. To share your recording with others, click Browse to locate it, then copy the file to post on a shared location, such as OneDrive or an internal SharePoint site.
